Professopatra has had a lifelong torrid affair with Iran and Afghanistan and wanders the Silk Road in her dreams at night. She is Eliza Doolittle in harem pants (well, not really, because those things are really ghastly and they make her bum look like a massive frothy bubble).

That’s pretty much it until after the elections.

  1. Love your website!! Please check out our new book ‘The American Muslim Teenage’rs Handbook’ & comment if you feel inspired! Librarians & teachers love it as a fun, new resource to help dispel stereotypes about Islam…we need all the help we can get to counteract the extremists from w/in Islam as well as the hate-mongers who are quick to believe the worst.

    Take care,
    Dilara

    Great blog with excellent issues!

  3. Kat, I think you may be just the someone I have been looking for to help me.

I want to be right up front and honest with you to begin with. For almost eighteen months now I have harbored hatred for Muslims in general. If I didn’t hate them all I certainly did not trust them. Only recently have I been awakened to the evil hidden in my heart. I grieve that.

You see unlike you I can sympathise with those women who have had a family member killed. I don’t think it matters where the body is it is none the less a loved one never to return.

My son-in-law, Sgt Buddy James Hughie was an Army medic serving on in Afghanistan. Buddy was imbedded with the Afghani Army Nationals and volunteered for every medical trip into the villages. He would not allow any one to refer to the Afghani’s in a derogatory term. I encourage you to GOOGLE him. If you do you will see that he was killed by a Taliban sniper. However, what you will not see and which I have had confirmed by two different officers under two different commands is that the reason Buddy was killed by that sniper was because the guys he was in the up-armoured Humvee with refused to enguage the enemy. Which meant Buddy had to get out (under fire) and cover 300 meters of open ground to reach the three wounded ANA’s.

Buddy had everything to live for. He was home three months prior to his being killed for the birth of their son Cooper Michael Hughie.

The local Afghani’s loved Buddy too. They hand crafted a small wooden chest and inlayed “COOPER” on top of the chest and put some of Buddy’s personal items in there. While he was here in November ‘06 he showed us on his lap top pictures of the smiling faces of the children he had personally innoculated.

To have hatred in my heart for Muslims simply because they are Muslim would grieve the man we still mourn.

I am just trying to understand this whole thing. I mean how can one Muslim kill a man trying to save the life of another Muslim?

One of the sadest things (for us to know) is that Buddy never, ever knew his daddy. Now little Cooper will not know his daddy either.

    Thank you for “listening”.
