I wish that at some point today I could stop spontaneously bursting into tears.
Tomorrow will be better insh’Allah. I admired this woman with all of her faults, the criticism she faced, and the mistakes she may have made. In the light of everything, she stood bravely with her supporters and faced her enemies and for that she is a shahida to me. She was a remarkable woman and my heart breaks that there is one less woman’s voice in this world that is being heard over the rumble of political pundits, gender bigotry, and war.
I wish I had known her.
